Porsche to Compete With Acura and Ferrari at the Lone Star Grand Prix in Houston
Author: Jerick Brooks
When it comes to racing it’s always been a question of the engine used and other power components that an automobile possess which extends up to the quality of exhaust systems employed. And one of the popular exhaust system utilized by some of the most powerful brands of automobiles in the industry may it be Ford, Toyota, Honda, Chrysler, or General Motors– is the flowmaster exhaust systems. The the flowmaster exhaust improves acceleration and passing power as well as improved fuel mileage simply perfect for any racing event.
And speaking of race, the American Le Mans Series heads toward the Southwest for round number four—the Lone Star Grand Prix of Houston scheduled this coming Saturday evening. The Porsche teams that were involved in both the LMP2 and GT2 classes are to face tough competitions on both the prototype and GT levels.
During the LMP2 class the Porsche RS Spyders have earned class wins plus an overall win in the past two street races however it was the Acura prototype that earned the pole at Long Beach and won the opening ALMS round at Sebring. In GT2, it was the new comer 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR that finished second to the Ferrari in all three races. Porsche trails the manufacturers chase by only 12 points going into Houston. However Porsche Motorsport North America President Uwe Brettel would rather be way ahead in both categories but also stressed out the point that a close competition is good for the classes and equally good for the series.
It can remembered that last year both the Penske Porsche RS Spyders were not able to finish the Houston event due to the transmission problems caused by too much beating that the vehicles obtain from the bumpy track surface.
The overall victory achieved by Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard in the LMP2 class Penske Porsche RS Spyder was the second one-two overall finish in the American Le Mans Series obtained for Porsche. The same Dumas/Bernhard combination won the feat at the Mid-Ohio last year. This is also the first time for a manufacturer to sweep the overall podium in ALMS.
The Lone Star Grand Prix at Houston’s JAGFlo Speedway at Reliant Park will start on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 pm EDT and will run for two hours and 45 minutes. The race will also be telecast on CBS Sports on a tape-delayed basis at 1 pm EDT on April 29. American Le Mans Radio and IMSA’s Live Timing and Scoring will be available at www.americanlemans.com during the race while information on Porsche drivers as well as on the team is available at porschemotorsport.com.

Why are the new star wars films crap?
I watched ‘episode 2-attack of the clones’ last night and it was the biggest load of crap i have seen. Over reliant on CGI special effects that makes it look like a playstation game and silly parts in it that include anakin and his bird having an adventure on a big conveyor belt in some kind of giant foundry. Was a load of rubbish. The old films were great, phantom menace was ok-ish and ive yet to see ‘revenge of the sith’ but i dont hold out too much hope.
What are your views?
Define “crap” … if it means that the movies weren’t what you yourself thought they should be then well … again, define “crap”.
When you get right down to it there are 3 big reasons why the prequels didn’t grab fans the way the OT did … you’ve touched on them in your question.
1.) A HUGE over reliance on CGI special effects. Lucas was so impressed by all the pretty new ways he could show things blowing up that he forgot the one thing that made the OT the iconic saga that it was and still is … the story.
2.) Fan arrogance. With the many years that passed between the OT and the prequels most fans already had the “back ground” story of Anakin and his fall to the dark side told in their heads. We were in “geek heaven” when Lucas announced that he was making the prequels and we lined up in droves once again to see more of the story we all loved. When the movies finally came fans found that the story in our heads didn’t match the story that Lucas was telling and we reacted like little babies because of it. I was no different. After seeing ep I … I sat there wondering what the hell I had just seen because it didn’t fit the story I had in my head either. At the time the only saving grace, if you want to call it that, was the Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan VS Darth Maul duel. I thought I had just seen the best “sword fight” I would ever see in any movie … once again, just like with the story, I was wrong because the duels in ep III are simply amazing.
3.) George Lucas. I don’t know if many fans really understood just what he was attempting to do when he decided to make the prequels. In short he was trying to do the impossible … make 3 more movies as good or better than the OT. It couldn’t be done. Episodes I & II were very sub par … however … ep III, IMHO, is the second best movie of the 6. He has also not learned a very simple lesson that has always been true of his movies … the man is a GREAT story teller but he is a HORRIBLE dialog writer. If anybody ever doubted that just watch the scenes in ep II with Anakin & Padme on Naboo … horrid isn’t a bad enough word to describe it. Top that with his “revisionist history” way of telling us the why/what/where of how the story came to be what it is. Truth be told the 6 movie saga that we have know bares very, very little resemblance to the base story that he started out with.
There are many other reasons why fans were disappointed with the prequels but these are the top 3, IMHO,
