Godzilla Smog

Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder. What exactly does ’smog mode’ do on “Godzilla; Destroy all monsters melee” for Gamecube.?

I know how to enter the cheats and all that, cause I’ve played the game a lot, but, what does smog mode do? I know the cheat code, but the effect would be-?

I’m pretty sure the effect is supposed to be Hedorah (the smog monster, appropriately enough) appearing more frequently.
